House of Peace

Satayagrah House

Within these walls Mohandas Gandhi developed his indomitable philosophy of passive resistance that would go on to change India and the world. Satyagraha; sanskrit for “truth force,” is imbued in this place. Respect, authenticity, and simplicity are the words that come to mind when I look at the photos of this place. I would so love to go there, want to plan a trip?

HOW THE EAST WAS LOST: Jamyang Phuntsok

What would Don Lopez say?

home again

We had a fantastic trip hanging around with family and Tashi’s childhood friends, and enjoying one of the most incredible places on earth!

Thank you friends for sending your glasses, the old specs are protecting, and aiding eyes as we speak.

Yak Pack

I have never ridden a yak, but I sure am excited to meet Tashi in his home town next week, and give it a try!  My bags are nearly packed, I am just double checking to make sure I haven’t forgotten a thing.

got glasses?

Friends of PAG, as lovers of the visual arts surely we all value our sight! The question is, do you care to share?  Tashi and I are traveling to his home town in Gansu Provence this summer and we want to include you all on a small initiative.  We would like to collect reading glasses/ UV sunglasses/ prescription glasses, and give them to monks in the local monastery.    If you have lenses to spare, please contact me (sarah@peakartgallery) I would be delighted to find a new owner for them!

The Tibetan Art Collective is a fantastic new community comprised mostly  of Contemporary Tibetan Artists with the majority working in Delhi.  This project concertizes two of my favorite characteristics of the world we live in, creative expression and global networking.

Yummy Summertime

With just a couple of weeks left of class I am having a difficult time focusing, instead I am thinking about the amazing summer just ahead which is sure to be filled with, friends, art, travel, research, and a long awaited return to India!  Summers in Dharamshala are punctuated by lavish multiple day picnics which are so wonderful and summery.  Last time I went on a picnic in India we made hundreds of  momos in a single afternoon they were completely delicious.  What do you pack in your basket?

oh how beautiful

Tenzin Dakpa is one of the founding partners of Peak Art Gallery,  we have been fortunate to know him as a compassionate friend, and experience his truly great artistic  talent.  I love seeing his art in homes where it can be enjoyed every day, the pieces look incredibly beautiful and his point of view is masterly conveyed.  Wouldn’t you just love to have one of Tenzin’s beautiful pieces hanging in your home?
